Welcome to Vital Sassy
So… you’ve found your way here. Perfect. That probably means you’re done listening to advice that feels like it was written by a 30-year-old wellness coach who thinks “aging gracefully” means owning a silk robe and drinking lemon water.
It’s your time to be real.
If you’re 55 or better and wondering how to feel stronger, sharper, and more yourself in this wildly unpredictable chapter of life, you’re in the right place.
I created this blog because I was tired of the cacophony. I wanted real, honest conversations about aging well, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and yes, spiritually. Here, the talk is about what matters, like gut health, brain fog, stress, purpose, frustration, and hope—all of it. No gimmicks or fluffy stuff. Just ideas that might actually help.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog isn’t about ‘one thing’ because we are human beings with many shades.
The posts here are organized into three main sections, all designed to help you (and me) age with greater clarity, confidence, and maybe even a hint of rebellion.
🥦 Eat Well & Age Strong
Let’s talk real food, the kind that fuels your brain, supports digestion, and doesn’t require a trust fund or a PhD in nutrition to figure out. This section tackles practical, budget-friendly ways to nourish your body, allowing you (and me) to stay sharp and strong without falling for every trendy wellness craze.
🧠 Mind, Mood & Memory
This is your oasis for brain health, emotional strength, and mental clarity. If you’ve ever dealt with brain fog, mood swings, burnout, or just need to feel a little more grounded, you’re not alone, and you’re not crazy. Here, we unpack the stuff that’s usually whispered, but we say it out loud.
✨ Purpose & Spiritual Wellness
Getting older doesn’t mean fading into the background. This space is where we unearth what matters, including finding meaning, faith, personal growth, rediscovering the fun-loving kid we once were, and purpose (even when life zigzags). Whether you’re reevaluating everything or just asking bigger questions, this corner’s for you.
Why Listen to Me?
I’m not a doctor. I’m not a life coach. And I’m definitely not here to tell you to meditate harder or take some $80 mushroom powder to “reverse aging.”
What I am is a curious, persistent, deeply human woman who’s spent the last 15+ years digging into what it actually takes to feel well—body, mind, and spirit. I’ve worked in healthcare, spent years editing medical records, sat in more waiting rooms than I can count, and my questions began to mount.
I’ve been and am a caregiver. I’ve witnessed what happens when “the system” fails us. I’ve battled through my health frustrations. And I’ve learned how to read between the lines when the advice doesn’t match the reality of aging.
This blog is my way of turning all of that—the experience, the research, the pain, and the hope—into something useful. Something that helps you skip a few of the potholes I fell into. Something that reminds you that you’re not alone.
