When Heaven Holds More Than Just Us

A Reflection on Near-Death and Our Pets in the Afterlife

Why This Article Moved Me

I recently read an article about a near-death experience that unearthed my faith—something that sometimes gets buried beneath the weight of daily life.

Here’s why this one stayed with me and reached into my heart and soul.

It was early morning. I was the only one up. I sat in my office, sipping coffee, scanning my email.

As tears slid down my face, my little brown-eyed furry angel, Lucy, peeked around the corner. How did she sense my silent weeping?

But she did. With those big, inquisitive eyes, she checked in on me, my soft, sweet companion who always knows.

This article reflects on a near-death experience and the mysterious beauty that might await us beyond this life. For those of us who sometimes fear death, it’s a must-read.

I’ve read many NDE stories before, but this one was different. It mentions pets—the extra beat of my heart—and it filled me with both tears and peace.

I’ve lost two little soulmates—some call them dogs—far too early. And now, Lucy, my 11-year-old Shih-Poo, is bravely battling glaucoma and heart issues.

My Lucy, the Love of My Life

I pray that heaven welcomes our little angels, because I believe they’re gifts from God, entrusted to us for a time. And one day, they too will go home.

That’s why this piece meant so much to me. Deep in my bones, I believe it’s possible—that there’s a place beyond this world where our little companions wait. That heaven doesn’t forget them. That love this deep doesn’t just disappear.

So, I wanted to share this article, not just for us humans who fear the unknown, but for anyone who has loved and lost and still holds on to hope.

I believe our pets are truly gifts from God. How could something so full of goodness and love not have a place beyond this life?

Until then, we’re entrusted with their care and love for a season. And when they’re gone, they leave paw prints that never fade.

🕯 Summary of Robert Marshall’s Near-Death Experience

In May 2024, Robert Marshall was rushed to the hospital after a mass in his neck began cutting off his airway. After a rapid decline, he was pronounced clinically dead. He remained unresponsive—brain-dead and on life support—for days. Doctors said there was no hope.

But his wife stayed by his side, praying and refusing to give up.

Miraculously, Robert came back.

He later described spending 44 hours in heaven—walking with Jesus, surrounded by love, peace, and beauty beyond words. There were no shadows. No sickness. He saw loved ones in perfect health. The trees sang. The light was love itself. Colors were more vivid than anything we know here on Earth.

And most soul-stirring for many of us—especially those who know the deep love of a pet—was Robert’s reunion with his dogs. Even a dog he’d never met in life, one who had belonged to his wife, ran to greet him.

He could feel their joy. He heard their thoughts. He knew, without doubt, that they, too, had a place in heaven’s forever-home.

Jesus told Robert he would return, fully restored.

And he did.

He woke with new organs, a different blood type, and no signs of previous damage. Today, he shares his story around the country, reminding us that heaven is real, love never ends, and miracles still happen.
